BMW + The North Face show cases futuristic camper (element protected)

BMW + The north face were at the CES 2019 (Vegas) and in true fashion showcased a rather futuristic looking camper. It wasn’t just the futuristic design of this that caught eye but the show case itself was actually a VR experience!

The campers “dome” structure was inspired mainly by BMW gina light visionary model concept car from 2008. Internally its equipped with all you need for a basic night (Bed + Internal shelving)

The camper is designed with “Futurelight” fabric, this provides protection for his dome shell but also incorporates nano sized holes. The holes allow air to pass through to provide good ventilation but still keeps it water prove!

BMW Recalls over 1 million cars

Recall Information

BMW have just issued an urgent recall of more than 1 million cars and SUVs across the US, due to risk of FIRE under the bonnet. The recall is so major that BMW are recommending people with the affected models are to park them outside and away from extra fire hazards such as large trees / other cars.

The two separate recalls BMW state the risk of fire is “very low” (are we to believe them?), but the cars should stay outside due to “caution”. The repairs to fix the issue are expected to start on December 18th.

The first voluntary recall is going to affect only certain BMW 3 Series models from year 2006 to 2011, the company said in a statement released on the matter.

So what is the issue?

The issue is caused by potentially faulty wiring of the climate control / heater blower fan

In the second but related recall will address a problem with a heater valve in certain BMW models  between the years 2007-2011 equipped with a 6-cylinder engine.

BMW i5 Leaked before reveal

The next generation of BMW i5 has been leaked ahead of its big reveal in Frankfurt.

Still looking pretty futuristic, the i5 seems to now take the form of its saloon version.

In terms of styling the bodywork is still aerodynamically tucked into the sill of the rear wheels.

Despite the fact this is currently concept car status, the i5 looks remarkably close to a production model, even from the above illustration.

E46 Convertible Roof Remote Coding

One of the main features that everyone would like to do on the E46 convertible is to be able to “remote roof”

Note: Im assuming you have INPA setup and connected fine, if not dont even try this..

The is two settings you need to change for this, they are both located in the GM5 module:

  1. KOMFORTSCHLIESSUNG_FB (Comfort closingwith remote – power windows, sunroof or convertible top)
  2. KOMFORTOEFFNUNG_FB (Comfort opening with remote – power windows, sunroof or convertible top)

These both need to be set to aktiv (active)

Code them both.. job done test it out!

 

Remote Locks Catch Thief – BMW 550I

Stumbled across a story which featured an example of how the modern day BMW’s are now, due to the “smart” connected technology actually helping with car crime!

The car which is a 550I model, was stolen on Sunday – unfortunately the owner left the key fob inside so the actual taking of the car was easy for the thief – after the owner realised what had happened this was immediately reported to the police.

The police were then reported to have liaised with BMW corporate division – i would assume they also had GPS lock on the car the whole time as the location was tracked down pretty quick.

It was discovered the thief not being very bright had decided to have a rest (sleep) on the back seat giving everyone time to lock the doors remotely and get a couple of police cars out to the cars tracked location

The thief was promptly arrested after being held in the car!
